When police arrived at the Albion,
Pennsylvania, home of 74-year-old Herbert Walden in 2010, they weren’t
shocked that he and his 94-year-old mother were dead. Instead, they
couldn’t understand how the pair had managed to live in their
garbage-filled house for so long.
Not only was the house cluttered to the ceiling with trash, it was apparently taken over by stray cats. Horrifyingly, Walden’s corpse was found partially eaten by the clowder of hungry beasts.
Police noted that, because there was no running water in the house,
there were also no functioning toilets. Walden and his mother apparently
just used buckets instead. The cats, on the other hand, freely
defecated on the furniture.
It makes you wonder who really ran the house…

Walden, a retired school teacher, died of a heart attack inside the home. His mother Jane depended on his care, so she eventually died of dehydration. Both bodies were found several days later.
The heaps of trash attracted a lot of stray cats. When Walden was found, the cats were beginning to eat his foot.
It makes you wonder who really ran the house…
